Community Events and Festivals

Much of my work has been with local community organisations which I have been involved with both on a voluntary and a paid basis.

Local groups I have worked with include: -

N.U.Y.P.P (Netherthorpe & Upperthorpe Young Peoples Platform, Garden Rooms, Y.A.S.Y (Youth Association South Yorkshire), Healthy Living Center, local community festivals (Sharrow, Heeley City Festival, Ponderosa, Manor Top).

The workshops I run are ideal for such groups as they are accesible to all age groups (eg in circus skills I offer poi spinning and diabolo, both of which can be learnt by the very young; in crafts, Mexican Dreamcatchers are ideal for those of playgroup age); the materials used are generally either cheap to purchase, or can be home made.

So, if I run a craft workshop, having introduced the basic skills, it's possible for a group to continue with and develop those skills in the weeks following. This is also to my advantage as, being good value, it makes it likely that I will be booked again, and then have the satisfaction of showing ways to develop those skills further.
